Glenys Knopp: Facilitator

A New Zealand trained teacher with many years’ experience in teaching all ages, Glenys usually conducts the Davis programmes at her Darfield premises, but is happy to travel to other centres to suit the client. After the programme Glenys is happy to contact the client’s workplace or school, if requested, to explain the outcomes and assist them in supporting the learner.

Glenys first heard Ron Davis speak in 2004 and…

"When he explained the thinking style of a dyslexic I realized why my remedial teaching methods sometimes weren’t hitting the mark, so I began to study his approach to this often hidden disability.

"I became a Licensed Davis Dyslexia Correction® Facilitator in May 2007 and since then I have worked with and assisted a variety of clients, both children and adults.

"The role of Facilitator is quite different to that of teacher. I provide opportunities for clients to 'learn how they learn'. This is much deeper than simply giving remedial exercises to improve reading or spelling – the client actually discovers why they think the way they do and how to use that thinking style to their advantage.

"After many years of trying to help with the symptoms of dyslexia I am now seeing the difference it makes when people deal with the cause. It is extremely rewarding to see the growth in my clients' self esteem, confidence and their ability to learn that takes place during the week.
