Getting the most from your Davis Dyslexia Correction Programme

Information for clients and parents of young clients

The basic programme is usually done over five or six days.

  • If the basic programme takes longer than five or six days there is no additional fee.
  • We usually start at 9.00 am and finish between 3.00 and 4.00 pm, with an hour for lunch.
  • Bring a snack and a water bottle to keep your energy levels up.

The programme is intensive, one-to-one work. The lunch hour is a welcome break for both client and facilitator.

  • Parents of young clients are expected to collect them at lunchtime.
  • A longer lunch time (and later finish) may be organised if parents have some distance to travel to collect their child.

The programme may leave you feeling tired at the end of the day. Although it’s not demanding physically, there is a lot of brain work involved.

  • Plan a quiet week, with relaxed evenings and early nights.
  • Leave any celebrations until your programme is completed – especially if they involve energy drinks or alcohol.

After your programme, the real work begins!

  • You will not be ‘fixed’ in one week.
  • You will leave your programme with new ways of thinking and learning. It will take time to become an expert at using these ‘tools’.
  • Your facilitator is only an email or phone call away. Talking through a situation, or getting ideas on how to model a tricky definition, can make all the difference.
